P5S-117 was a planet under the dominion of the Goa'uld system lord Ba'al that held an important naquadah mine for his forces. In August 2003, the planet was used by the SGC to test the Avenger virus by Dr. Jay Felger. The virus worked, but was discovered by Ba'al and modified to infect the entire gate network. Major Carter and Doctor Felger soon went back to the planet to repair the damage to the gate network and restore the virus to its original settings. Afterwords the planet would be unable to dial anywhere in the galaxy after they were done.
