The Asgard were a highly intelligent and intellectual species that originated in the Ida Galaxy. Their presence in Earth's history and culture is noted in Norse Paganism, as benevolent Gods and Goddesses. They were very influential in the Milky Way's galactic politics concerning the Goa'uld, forming the Protected Planet's Treaty, and formerly, the Alliance of the Four Great Races with the Ancients, Nox, and Furlings.
